Thirteen-year-old Bethany has always known her parents erred on the side of caution with Bethany’s longing for independence. Her questions regarding her past go unanswered by her parents, and her mother’s constant crying and moodiness alarm Bethany. Before she can talk to her father about her concerns, he packs up the family and eventually leaves Bethany with an aunt she never knew she had. When people meet Bethany their look of alarm is unmistakable. To add to her confusion, constant reference is made to a person named Elizabeth.

“She’s also still blinking like she can’t believe her eyes. This is just amazing, she says. Are you by any chance related to?”

Bethany finds herself with more questions than answers regarding her past and why her parents left her with her aunt. Until the day a package from her father brings the past and present colliding together. Bethany’s safety increasingly becomes a concern and her aunt agrees it is time to know the truth. The what and how of the truth will have the reader spellbound.

Margaret Peterson Haddix takes the reader on a suspenseful ride of finding one’s true place in the world. To learn more about Margaret Peterson Haddix visit: http://www.haddixbooks.com/home.html
